The Oath To Faith

La 'ilaha 'illa llaha,
wa Muhammadun rasulu llahi.

There is no god except God, and
Muhammad is the Messenger of God.

The Importance Of The Shahadah

One of the first major requirements for being a Muslim is the saying of the Shahadah, one of the five pillars of Islam. The Shahadah is also known as the declaration of faith. By pronouncing these words from your heart, you are professing that "There is no God but Allah and Muhammad (pbuh) is His Messenger." In accordance with the Shahadah, is the belief in the day of judgment, in the words of the Prophets, the scriptures, and the complete submission to Allah. By saying these precious words, you are opening your heart. Only then can Allah remove the veil that was upon your eyes. A person can only be shown the straight path by the mercy of Allah.
